Kim VandryI am now departing on train 1/7 of my #CrossBorderRail trip from London to Lisbon. Just an ordinary Eurostar to Paris to begin with. I'd've preferred to fit this one in tomorrow morning instead of today but I couldn't find a way. Anyway, day 3 is where it will get more interesting, crossing from Spain into Portugal.
Ce matin le voyage continue avec le train 2/7 de Paris à Lyon. Celui-ci n'est pas vraiment #CrossBorderRail mais il fault bien que je traverse la France, n'est-ce pas?
Le train 3/7 sur mon voyage #CrossBorderRail de Londres à Lisbon est maintenant au départ de Lyon vers Barcelona. Un des plus longs: 5h
btw: Lyon Part-Dieu, c'est le Stuttgart de la France!
All trains on my #CrossBorderRail trip to Portugal so far have been electric including this one, no. 4/7, from Barcelona to Madrid. That's part of the point! Unfortunately I do suspect that will change tomorrow. We'll see, and good night :)
5/7 The last day feels like the last mile although there are still 2 more #CrossBorderRail trains to go after this diesel train to Badajoz.
Good news: the line from Madrid to Badajoz is being upgraded, with a new high speed line currently under construction alongside, and with some sections already open (which we used).
What surprised me though is that most of this new line is single track! I wouldn't have expected a line without the traffic to justify double track to be funded for high speed (including new tunnels) and OLE.
Now isn't this the itty bittiest little cute green #CrossBorderRail train you have ever seen?? It is train 6/7 in my trip from London to Lisbon, just departed and taking me from Badajoz (Spain) to Entrocamento (Portugal).
I knew it was going to get interesting on day 3!
...and finishing off with train 7/7 to get to the finish line. Curiously, this has been the only delayed train of the whole trip (13 minutes). I suppose that if any train is going to be delayed it's best if it's the last one!
