Purple is my natural hair color. I have strong opinions about software and sometime I even get to make them reality. Same for the state of the world in general, but I have a lot less influence there.

Professionally: Linux Graphics Plumbing for Qubes OS. Unprofessionally: aarch64laptops, postmarketOS, lots of random projects, local activism/politics.

Got the relatively-cheap dual 4K capture card.. As expected, it's a SuperSpeedPlus hub going into two independent SuperSpeed "minus" capture chips. Entirely unexpected though: tiny fan for active cooling!
huh. apparently some of the legendary APM X-Gene systems still are in use at some dedicated server providers? wow
now that's some fuzzy search results lol
Absolutely amazing password generated by #GNOME's RDP server here

This is what ubuntu.com looks like currently. Holy shit. Apparently this isn't even that new.. Just a couple years ago their main offering on display was a whitepaper on autonomous cars. Two more years back, a webinar on 5G and whatever the heck "MEC" was… (continues digging) OHH.

Literally the last year the actual desktop OS was the only hero image for the entire year was 2010, when netbooks were relevant. or 2011 kinda, it was in a carousel with a server survey once, and end of year was about ubuntu one (dropbox clone)..

How did it even stay relevant as a desktop way beyond that point, with that as the landing page?

Where they did cut costs instead? On the belts, apparently. Now sure I am running much higher accelerations than stock firmware but.. just snapping like this, really?!

These even have fake Gates branding, but they're "reinforced" with, idk, silicone? Definitely not any kind of fiber. Bought supposedly-possibly-original ones now (with brownish-red material on the inside) and they're a looot firmer, the diference is very noticeable

This has got to be one of the strangest decisions in 3D printing. This Biqu BX ships with..

5 motors (dual Z) ✅

5 motor drivers ✅

each motor wired to its own- ❌❌❌

No, the Z axis ones are connected in parallel to a single Z driver, and the 5th driver is labelled "E1" and is just.. unused out of the box.

Could've offered gantry auto leveling out of the box.. OR taken out the little driver board to reduce cost. But no, you just get an unused driver :D
