Absolutely hilarious, can't believe it actually happened… I went to read @expede 's great article about a deadlock prevention library and it uhhhhhhhh deadlocked my Firefox??

Clearly Mozilla should look into adopting surelock 🙃

(Well idk if it's specifically a deadlock but it freezes. One time it actually crashed and I sent a report to Mozilla.)

@valpackett What DE/WM are you using? I'm on KDE and lately I've been having an issue where my Firefox window will freeze up like yours, and the way to get it back to normal is to:

1. Create a new tab or click an existing tab (the screen will not update, this is expected)
2. Minimize Firefox, move the mouse cursor away from the Firefox icon in the taskbar to avoid rendering a preview
3. Wait 5 seconds
4. Restore the Firefox window

Give it a try and see if it helps!

@IvanDSM niri. This is not just a visual freeze, it's easily reproducible with this specific website and has never happened before. I know a bug when I see one and I could investigate and debug it if I had time.
@valpackett Sorry for the late reply. I apologize if I came across condescending/patronizing/mansplain-y, really wasn't my intention...
@valpackett 1. LMAO the irony 2. apologies that's maybe something bundled by the Quartz SSG — though I haven't experienced that specific behaviour before myself. (I've been working on a Rust-based replacement that bundles precisely what I need with no bloat, but haven't hit feature parity yet)
@expede haha dw it's for firefox to fix!
