My May plays. I had a busy month not playing Boardgames sadly.
New to me was Power Grid Outpost, Sausage Sizzle (played on the day after the election), Fuego and Underwater Cities

My Feb #boardgame stats from #bgstats
I had four new to me games (Daitoshi, Critter Kitchen, Welcome to Dino World and Odin) but none of them wowed me.
Maybe I've become jaded
Ah, there's a lot going on in this game and I'm not convinced that the theme works to tie it together. The spirit tracks (mountain, forest, river..) didn't seem to thematically tie to the end game bonus that they gave which meant I was constantly referring to the player aid to work out which track I wanted to go up.
I can dig a weird theme but it really didn't gel.
Played #Daitoshi on 2025-02-18 with 3 players, winning score: 268 #bgstats
Played 3 player Harmonies, came second. There was only 4 points between the first and the last place.
It's a little bit Azul, a little bit Calico. It has a high "oh I've messed up" within the first few turns, but that may just be having only played it once.#boardgames
New to me, interesting one.
One of the issues I had with the game was that we buying and selling was a little dull because it was at a fixed rate. We discovered after the game that an expansion has been made (now free) that has a dynamic markety so that likely would improve my feeling about the game.
But there's a fair bit of luck involved here. While you can insure against it you can end up with insurance that doesn't get used so.

My #bgstats for 2024 from @BGStatsApp
Surprisingly Taiki Shinzawa shows up as top designer despite not having any in my Top 9 (he has done a lot of very good trick takers and his auction games are interesting too).
But possibly this is just the fact that Ive gone very wide this year rather than particularly deep.
The spike in plays in October is mostly due to Solotober.
It's the final day of #meeplecon24 and it's going to be a big one. The Flea Market opens at 10am and the Harmonies tournament is on this afternoon.
It's been a big weekend #boardgames
So many games this month (mostly due to the #solotober challenge). I played 40 games and 11 were logged for the first time.
#Xylotar had been doing quite well with my gaming group. We've also got one more game of the #Powergrid Fable USA campaign to go (of 3)
I completed the last route on my last coin but only scored 190 points so am considered merely an apprentice.
Free Ride is much better multiplayer. I did find myself many times wondering if I'd spent a coin each turn (I think I did) and often had to count back a turn to find out if I'd done 4 or 5 movement. I prefer the sneaking in and grabbing the easy route someone else thought they'd get of multiplayer, so this is probably a no for me.
On the positive side, each time I play my knowledge of European geography gets stronger.
