Every CLI tool has the same validation code hidden somewhere:

  • β€œoption A requires option B”
  • β€œcan't use X and Y together”
  • β€œthis only works in production mode”

I got tired of writing it. So I built something that makes it unnecessary.

@Andres4NY @foxxtrot @cstross I had a Blackberry Priv. The slide-out physical keyboard with capacitive gesture support was really nice, but didn't hold up well. Many of the BB-specific features needed a subscription and to trust them with all your data.
Iirc, between hardware problems and unpatched software bugs I ended up replacing it within a year or two.

To spell this out clearly, the reason RAM has quadrupled in price is that a huge quantity of RAM that hasn't been produced yet has been bought with money that doesn't exist to populate GPUs that also haven't been produced to go in datacenters that haven't been built powered by infrastructure that may never exist to meet a demand that doesn't exist at all to make profit margins that mathematically can't exist while economists talk about this thing they call the "rational markets hypothesis".

Because the Calibre ebook library software just acquired AI garbage (as of 8.16.2, this week), it has *already* been forked. For AI-free Calibre, seek out clbre:

GitHub - grimthorpe/clbre: A fork of Calibre called Clbre, because the AI is stripped out.

@nazgul I have had similar issues with sites that have different password length rules on the set/reset forms than the sign-in one.
@AlgoCompSynth One time my [sibling] was like "All you do is work with computers, so how come your phones and computers are all so old?" and I sincerely looked her in the eye and said "have you seen 'Ratatouille'"?
