@gerrymcgovern it’s shocking!

Great post by @aleyda. She has the most critical opinions of #SGE that I’ve found so far and she outlines some important issues: https://www.aleydasolis.com/en/search-engine-optimization/a-few-thoughts-on-my-initial-google-sge-experience/

A few thoughts on my initial Google Search Generative Experience (SGE) Tests

First test of the new Google Search Generative Experience and how could it impact user click behavior and satisfaction.

@mariyadelano @admin that’s interesting. I think to be in a featured snippet you had to be somewhere on the first page, so the featured snippet allowed you to leapfrog the first page positions. If AI summaries take from the second page or further down, that’s a huge jump!

Trying to test if Google's feedback mechanism does anything. If you have 30 seconds, could you:

1) Search for my name https://www.google.com/search?q=rand+fishkin

2) Click "feedback" under the onebox result

3) Click the pencil icon next to the top, Google Books text

4) Choose "Outdated" and hit send

Thanks!

But does it rank for browning onions, or cooking onions, or making onions for french onion soup? No.

Does the rich snippet for browning onions lie? Yes.

And would a LLM trained on the web give the answer all the lying sources repeat? Yes.

You undercook/burn your onions. I'll stick with my favorite human writers.

Why Do Recipe Writers Lie About How Long It Takes To Caramelize Onions?

Browning onions is a matter of patience. My own patience ran out earlier this year while leafing through the New York Times food section. There, in the...
