Via Burlington Library
archives: this Burlington Gazette article around the amalgamation of #BurlON in 1958, where officials said that "Burlington residents will be able to pay for the services they use" when talking about the low industrial tax-base.

Also sorry, I cut off some of the article at the bottom.πŸ˜…

There were also mentions of:
- more density between Toronto and Hamilton
- cooperation with the Hamilton-Wentworth & Oakville-Bronte-Trafalgar boards.

Tomorrow at City Council, we'll have an important vote on supporting zoning changes in principle to qualify for up to $192 million in federal housing funding. These same conversations are taking place across Canada. Here's a look at changes that have been made just this year:

Went to the office for the first time yesterday and it was also my first time in London, ON.

I took a quick walk up to Dundas Street. There's a pedestrianization plan for the street and I'd love to see a similar treatment on Brant st in #burlON.

It would be about a 5ish minute walk to the bus (which is planned to eventually have 15 minute intervals, currently at 30). This route connects to the regional bus station, the regional train station, uptown, shopping plazas and residential areas. It's about a 20 min ride from that spot to the train station.

Thinking about how #BurlON doesn't have many neighbourhood places of worship in the newer areas.

In Alton, one of the newest areas, there's no way to cross the street safely to reach the church without walking 10 mins to the intersection, and 10 mins back.

There is a mosque that looks like it's taken space in a retail centre, also in Alton.

It's honestly so weird when I see things like this...
