If you work in tech and haven't heard about "being glue", I would say that it's vital to read about it:

You'll either feel extremely heard, or it will open your eyes to what some of your (disproportionately female) coworkers struggle with on a regular basis.

@davebriggs I don’t think I’ve ever met another fastmail user in the wild before.

@davebriggs Yes, a server just for official Local Gov accounts in an effort to make it easier for LAs to join, and users to see it was an official account.

But it’s all still a novelty, unless you’re extremely bored and want to build your own on a raspberry pi or suchlike I don’t imagine there’s any real demand.

@sboots @marthaedwards I *really* like the challenge on growth as a measure of success - but there is a significant value in ensuring citizens know they’re interacting with government.

A big thanks to @stevenjmesser for writing about the UK cross government Slack: https://x-govuk.github.io/posts/how-to-use-cross-government-slack/

This platform and community is essential for enabling (otherwise rare) cross government collaboration.

@davebriggs do you think there’s *ANY* interest in a Local Gov mastodon server?!?(perhaps part of the localgov.blog Family? @localgov.social?)

accidentally wrote "saad" instead of "saas" in a text to my partner; they immediately coined "Software as a Disappointment"

and honestly, where is the lie

After working as a Software Developer for 14 years now, Scaled Agile / SAFe / Enterprise Agile is the best methodology I have seen if your plan is to burn out your teams as fast as possible.

Combining short sprints with long-term-planning while taking away autonomy from the team is not agile, it is just a lot of unmovable fucking deadlines in short succession.

"If the train leaves every 5 minutes you don't care about a timetable. If it leaves every 2 days you want to know *exactly* when it leaves"

Great analogy from Marcus Hamrin reflecting on planning, estimating and software delivery.

Oh, #flickr is now under Flickr Foundation https://www.flickr.org/why-were-doing-this/ @d0n great news and thank you!!
