Oh, #flickr is now under Flickr Foundation https://www.flickr.org/why-were-doing-this/ @d0n great news and thank you!!
Why we're doing this - Flickr Foundation

Flickr Foundation
@kushal that is not what I read from that announcement. Just that flickr _has_ a foundation now. I'm honestly not clear what the practical effect is.
@kushal (it looks like a charitable home for the Flickr Commons, not Flickr itself)
@chrisjrn@social yup, I am counting this still a big win
@kushal @d0n wow! Imagine Flickr using ActivityPub and sharing things with Pixelfed instances!
@decko @kushal @d0n They've said they're exploring that as a possibility! I'd love to see it
@kushal @d0n I cancelled my subscription a few days ago, I suppose my photos will be deleted.
@Wolfie_Rankin @kushal If you ask us to delete your photos, of course, we certainly will. Your call.
@d0n @kushal I have lots of photos, too many for a free subscription.

@Wolfie_Rankin as described on Flickr, they might delete your photos.

"Please keep in mind that free accounts are subject to a limit of 1,000 uploads. Downgrading your Pro account will put your content at risk of deletion if you exceed this limit"

And until you have less than 1000 you won't be able to upload any new photos.

I also canceled my pro subscription and went back to self-hosting.

#flickr #photography

@harald yeah, that's what happened.
I don't need flickr.

I went pro to dl my photos, now I can leave.

@kushal @d0n
I had no idea how important this was.
