@TMSnowsill Tristan- really enjoyed your paper. Trying to apply your modeling videos and papers to my current effort. Any recommendations for a diagnostic that hits multiple value propositions? Faster, more acceptable, triage, and companion. However, it is not approved for a specific indication/disease.

@pluralistic thank you for continuing to write and fight for those of us who don’t know better. Your posts and books are required reading for my employees.
In 1992, my professor lamented the computer, “All inventions that make a craft easier result in more crap.” Do you agree with that statement? Based on that, I have been calling LLM text ‘Microwave Prose”. The models can take decent writing and heat it up, but that’s about it.

Business jet owned by Aman Resorts & CEO Vladislav Doronin has been grounded since November. The jet is operated and managed by Malta- and Russia-based Emperor Aviation, sanctioned because it coordinated travel for relatives of Suleiman Kerimov.

The sanctions are not directly tied to Doronin and Aman; however, the Bombardier Global Express aircraft has been on OFAC’s “Specially Designated Nationals” list for nearly nine months.

@lindih @paninid @freakonometrics @briankrebs having lived in Austin, which decided in the 1980s not to expand highways and SoCal, which seems to constantly expand freeways, I experienced traffic in both. Neither has decent public transit. One potential is the way we fund transportation (at least in SoCal): 30 year plans revised each year, but annual funding for projects based on taxes.

@mmasnick @nilay_patel I asked a substack writer what they thought about the substack’s social features. The reply: “As the author, I have full control over moderation.” The ‘full control’ was in response to my reference to comments and chats.

I wonder if they are outsourcing notes moderation to authors? requiring/asking them to moderate if they post or respond. Market approach~> it seems the only downside would be losing paid subscribers. What happens when 2 authors interact?
