LinkedIn Is Illegally Searching Your Computer

Microsoft is running one of the largest corporate espionage operations in modern history. Every time any of LinkedIn’s one billion users visits linkedin.com, hidden code searches their computer for installed software, collects the results, and transmits them to LinkedIn’s servers and to third-party companies including an American-Israeli cybersecurity firm. The user is never asked. Never told. LinkedIn’s privacy policy does not mention it. Because LinkedIn knows each user’s real name, employer, and job title, it is not searching anonymous visitors. It is searching identified people at identified companies. Millions of companies. Every day. All over the world.

Ooh! A new Tedeschi Trucks album, just in time for my road trip. The super hero artwork by comic artist Marc Sasso is hilarious.

My longterm plan for the coming weeks was to fly to the UK, attend the WAVE conference at Cambridge, meet up with Fiona in London to do some research together, see friends and family, then go to Leiden and Den Haag, meet more friends and this year’s KABK students, visit the Louwman car museum, and after take a road trip through Belgium and into France, spending Easter at Bruges, and making pilgrimages to the Menin Gate and the Canadian memorial at Vimy. I was really looking forward to it.

Thanks to the new UK passport requirements for dual citizens, which I wasn’t able to fulfil in time for the trip, I have had to cancel it all. Instead, I will be getting into my car and heading towards the Rockies. I will spend Easter at Calgary, celebrated Bruges of the West. 😛

F1 TV delivers: TechTalk interview with ex-McLaren aerodynamicist Emil Cankaya about wind tunnel development of the new cars for the 2026 regulations.

The new technical requirements and regulations for F1 in 2026 are fascinating, and the principal reason I decided to pay attention again.

The other reason is Audi. Having watched their dominating performance in rally racing and endurance racing, I am intrigued to see if they can do it again in F1.

I decided to follow Formula 1 racing this year, for the first time in a long while, so have been watching recent episodes of the ‘Drive to Survive’ series to get familiar with the returning teams and drivers. I understand how focusing on the team principals and drivers makes for compelling narrative structuring, but what I’d really like to watch is a nerdy companion series in which engineers talking about wind tunnel testing and strategies for managing the dual power sources in the new hybrid cars.

When a piece of type gets damaged, it's like a fingerprint that can be used to tie all the work of a printer together, whether or not their name appears on the title page. The Catalog of Distinctive Type is building a database of these fingerprints for Restoration England. https://cdt.library.cmu.edu/

Was about to boost this from the Tiro account, but then realised this is a good fit for the personal account’s stated interest in #AutomotiveDesign
