Jetzt nimmt es wirklich Fahrt auf: "@datacite and @OpenAlex have launched a new integration to amplify the discoverability and impact of open research, with over 92 million DataCite DOIs now available in OpenAlex." https://doi.org/10.5438/we1x-2k68
DataCite Metadata Is Now Integrated in OpenAlex - DataCite

DataCite and OpenAlex have launched a new integration to amplify the discoverability and impact of open research, with over 92 million DataCite DOIs now available in OpenAlex. DataCite member organizations that register DOIs will now see their research outputs and resources indexed in OpenAlex. And OpenAlex users can now access a more complete picture of the research landscape with diverse research outputs like datasets, preprints, dissertations, software and other DataCite items. For both DataCite and OpenAlex, this integration represents an important milestone in their shared objectives to make research information more open, connected, and easy to access. It is also a landmark example for the global research community of how open infrastructures can amplify impact through connections and interoperability.

libxml2's sole maintainer Nick Wellnhofer steps down, meaning libxml2 is now no longer maintained.

It's hard to estimate just how many companies depend on this software and critical security updates to the library, so I'm certain many will quickly step up and offer sponsorship to ensure a fundamental dependency doesn't just deteriorate without proper support.

Any day now.

Stepping down as libxml2 maintainer

I’m stepping down as maintainer of libxml2 which means that this project is more or less unmaintained for now. I will fix regressions in the 2.15 release until the end of 2025.

If you're one of my academic publishing folks: sadly, it's true. Due to a funder's unexpected decision to pull support, we've had to make the incredibly difficult decision to wind down PubPub over the next 18 months and regroup to figure out how to best serve our mission.

I'm sure I'll have more to say, but today I'm feeling both gratified and saddened by the overwhelmingly supportive responses to our announcement.

I urge you to learn from our mistakes: https://www.knowledgefutures.org/updates/2025-06-update/
