@marcoarment this will present me with the funniest outcome to my "web article clipped to markdown -> AI TTS mp3 script -> upload to overcast" workflow bc now I will able to then read the AI transcription of the AI created audio file that was originally text on the web 😅
@caseyliss The Home Screen lacking customization is...bad. And I think getting to libraries moved from two to three clicks. :-( Def hoping you talk about your experience on ATP in the coming months as they develop it more!

@sommer I think this ties well with your own post from a few days ago on being willing to ask for others to explain things, which can then help fuel that confidence building while outside your comfort zone.

Me, 14 years into my career, all the freakin' time at work: "So I have no idea what that means. Could you explain it and/or show me where I can learn more? Thanks!" I love seeing other managers and leaders do this too. While I believe it's important for me to know my work/field well, it's also important for me to know what I need to know, ask when I don't know, trust in the expertise of others when needed, and make sound/informed decisions whenever possible.

My beliefs are simple, and hardly radical: Libraries are critical infrastructure. Access to information is a human right. When you buy a book you should truly own it. When a library buys a book, they should be able to lend it. Readers should be able to read without any third parties spying over their shoulders, or preventing them from accessing the materials they have legally obtained.
It happened! I accidentally swiped my homescreen wrong and it moved my podcast back by a ton, but Overcast's new "Go Back" button saved me. Thank you, @marcoarment! Been needing this for ages due to clumsy fingers.
@sommer I've found my draw to similar content comes from my desire to do other activities — I can do chores, workout, run errands, etc etc — while still consuming that content. Video requires visual focus which means I can't be doing as many other things and even when I can (eg watch tv and run on a treadmill), I'd rather be doing something else (run outside and listen to a podcast). I even listen to ai voices read most newsletters/articles to me at this point!
@chrnola agreed. I can see myself replacing my iPad with one if it gets down to "high end iPad" price point in a few years.

I do not know how the legal wording would need to function, but my general take on the solution is that OS manufacturers must allow the arbitrary installation/execution of applications/code on their platforms. It's just the "phones need to have install capabilities like long time desktop OSs have."

You can have an App Store, but developers must legally be allowed direct installation and contact with users, end of story.

This week's @atpfm section on Patreon/Apple is the gold standard and I'm glad to see @marcoarment explicitly state the government should step in and to start calling Apple's behavior extortion. https://overcast.fm/+AAQ2lG3GpvA

The latest iPhone and Mac Mini rumors, “new” “content” for the Vision Pro, and Apple’s latest attack on creators.

@chrnola I'm kind of okay with the idea? right this second, if I could buy an Apple Vision that only acted as a monitor for my MacBook for, say, $1000, I might be convinced to get that. Immersive environments + multi windows and I'm good to go. It's a high end monitor.
