anyone else absolutely loath using overhead lights?

i'd rather be slightly in the dark with my table lamp only illuminating a small space than switch on the ceiling lamp.

that said, i will use them if i really need to but if i have a choice i'd light several floor/table lamps first and relent only if they aren't enough
