It's quite infuriating watching my state Republican Party waste everyones time pushing bills they know won't get past the Democratic-held state Senate. Bills that attack the LGBTQ community, bills that make voting harder for non-whites, bills outlawing all abortion. But nevertheless pushing these bills anyway just to signal to Trump's people that they're doing their part to dismantle government.

Curious how people would feel about a higher character limit on #mastodon. I can understand if someone has a lot to say but doesn't want to create a thread of individual posts; on the flip side, is this site, like Twitter, really meant for posts that are nearly blog-length? How many folks read long posts? (asking genuinely; I do read a few myself). I don't believe a higher limit would be abused, I don't think suddenly everyone is going to start writing essays, lol.
