London-born, now living in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I'm a photographer and printmaker working with the traditional photographic processes of platinum-palladium and gelatin-silver printing, the contemporary polymer photogravure process, and the book-arts.

I offer traditional darkroom lab services and bookbinding, and I make portfolio cases for other photographers and artists too. I also teach workshops.

@trey I use Backblaze for online backups, Time Machine, and Carbon Copy Cloner for off-site storage backups. Over the years I've had to rely on all of them at some point and they've never let me down.

For a while now I’ve enjoyed reading Matthew Ott’s newsletters, Own Your Web, and how 2024 is the year personal websites will make a comeback. In the latest newsletter, Finding Your Rhythm, he writes about why we fall away from writing regularly for weblogs or newsletters. …

@AgPlusProcess I do have stories! I've been fortunate to work with a lot of good clients over the years. Eve Arnold, Peter Blake, Bruce Bernard, Dorothy Bohm, Mario Testino, Terry Donovan, John Claridge, Barry Lategan and Nadav Kander amongst them.

Back in London in the mid-1980s I made all the silver-gelatin prints for a book, “Photographers and Their Images”, by London-based photographer, Fi McGhee. As she travelled around the world making portraits of the photographers, she kindly had many of them sign copies of their posters or prints for me, including this one by Brett Weston. What a weird winter in Minnesota. No snow and grey skies, day after day. I expect more from you, Minnesota.
@tomnorthfilm Thanks, Tom!

On Wednesday I taught a fun, one-on-one clamshell case workshop at the studio in NE Minneapolis. We started by making a small 5×7″ 3-flap folio, just to get used to working with book cloth and adhesives. We then made an 8x10x1″ clamshell case, covered in navy blue Cialux book cloth with a cutout for a label.

@cdevroe I watched that the other day. I ordered a camera from them a year or so back and it was in perfect condition. They’re doing good things.
@cdevroe I have both Pentax spotmeters and Gossen Luna Pros and love both. Richard Ritter can still service the Pentax meters apparently, if you find one cheap. https://www.lg4mat.net I haven’t used his services but he’s highly recommended. There used to be a guy in Hollywood who’d service meters for the movie industry, but I believe he’s closed now.
LARGE FORMAT CAMERA REPAIR R T RITTER

Large format camera repair, restoration, Pentax spot meter repair, calibration and photography workshops.

@ewen I bought a camera from Kamerastore a couple of years ago. It was in perfect condition, an easy transaction and fast shipping and delivery to the US. I’d certainly buy from, and support them, in the future. Watching the video (all of it!) made everything even more personal. Thanks for posting the link.
