Bought a gargantuan (18 TB!) desktop HDD to be a Time Machine backup for both my internal and overflow external SSD. I’m all in.

I came to this after buying an external drive to make a "bootable" backup of my MBP internal drive using “SuperDuper!” and realizing that doing that is SLOOOOW and possibly pointless. I then realized you can use a single Time Machine on multiple drives. 🤯

Time Machine. What a sleeper hit! Nobody talks about it, but it just keeps on kicking ass after all these years.

It seems like the power button on this thing (HD Elements) may not actually do anything. If so, I may shuck this thing and put it in a cheap enclosure I have sitting around.

The button was a selling point to me. I have it plugged into a hub that I use on personal and work machines. I want it to be powered off when I have my work machine connected.

@trey I use Backblaze for online backups, Time Machine, and Carbon Copy Cloner for off-site storage backups. Over the years I've had to rely on all of them at some point and they've never let me down.
