The media tries hard to make black women think they aren’t beautiful.

Any entity that lies so hard must fear what would happen if you knew the truth.

Think about that.

@inklings Like I essentially said: black, ipoc, and certain income braket. So where did you read only black in my full statement?

Also, where did I ever state that we should have NO video? I said we shouldn't be SHARING traumatic imagery all over the internet.

Till and his family actually helps support my point. The public outrage after his mother showed the world died down and we live in the same system. The woman who got him murdered lived a full and care free life.

@MorriganResists, it's so sickening.

@inklings Black folks already understand the severity and live it every day, so I don't think we’ll see it the same way you will.

You can read a book to understand the severity of the continued abuse from our system of black, ipoc, and folks in a lower class bracket.

Studying needs to become relevant again.

@FalconFive No offense, but I just don’t believe in making someone’s death, especially an injustice death, a thankful moment.

That’s like folks who go on a mission trip and come back like, “oh, Im so thankful for what I have.”

I could never look at one of these videos and feel thankful that I’m alive… that just feels really weird, too many especially when it’s my people being murdered. I’m just confused to how that would be a first thought?

Our country has an obsession with viewing and sharing trauma videos instead of taking a moment to consider what we’re going to do about this system.

I'm not the “black sheep” of the spaces I step into. I'm the dark horse.

@anxiousrage @mellifera Also grew up as an ALTblackgirl. I wiped that part of my identity due to trauma but have been traveling back.

I appreciate the music share. Have you heard of Hemlocke Springs? Her music is right up the ALT alley.

@magicalmilly Sounds like what I'm experiencing due to my demanding job.
Everyone underestimates the imperative nature of the “soft black girl” movement.
Dark skin black women especially have been characterized as strong under the depiction of different characters dating back to the development of minstrel shows in the early 19th century.
Our girls and women are naturally soft, strong, and beautiful. We’re far from a monolith.
