I have initiated an account with masto.host and will probably be moving my Mastodon presence to my own instance in the next 48 hours or so. Please follow along when I move my account; I enjoy everyone I follow and that follows me in this wonderful Fediverse.
@jim I think I’m making the jump back to my own instance this weekend. Or sooner.

WOW.. @system76 has given us a gift!

An #amd #linux laptop with a 16" 2k screen and CENTERED keyboard!!

This now joins the VERY short list of full size laptops without an evil numpad!

OpenStreetMap.org currently offline. Operations Team are working to restore - 15 December 2024 (Updated)

After leading several major incident service recovery teams, the details of a real-world failure are always more complex than anyone expects. I’d suggest patience until the hosting provider issues a root-cause report, and this can be used to review the overall architecture against availability goals, and yes, costs.

@silviamaggi I switched back to Obsidian yesterday and have promised myself to keep the plugins to a minimum to avoid distraction.

I have to admit, the NY Times has done a great job of completely screwing up a simple game like Wordle. For a few weeks I had to sit through an ad. Now the ad is ever present at the top of the screen and I have to swipe down to a smaller version of the game board. Then, when I want to share my win with my husband, I have to cut and paste the results into a text message, because the share sheet no longer works.

Ads first, humans second. It's the way of the NY Times.

Creativity.

I love the person that writes the Forecast Discussion for the Tucson office of the National Weather Service.  Their creativity is awesome.

#weather is awesome.

Contrary to popular belief, ADS-B is not required for every flying object in the sky. Every airplane is NOT required to be beaming its signal. It’s all dependent on airspace. So, there’s a fair chance that airplane up there isn’t telling FlightAware who it is.
There’s a light in the sky!

After months of wrestling with too many Apple centric applications with decent web interface options, I jumped to cross platform, I own the data goodness again. todo.txt and Obsidian for the win.

And this is just after I wrote about being OK with a Mac app with a web interface. Apparently I lied.
