Quick back story: my dog passed away in September. I went through six months of the worst depression I’ve ever experienced. Entire weekends where I didn’t want to get out of bed.
After a lot of self reflection, time in a support group, and talking it over with my therapist, I decided I was ready for a new puppy. My new guy came home this weekend, his name is Oliver, and he’s fantastic.
I haven’t felt this good in years. I’m tired- he doesn’t sleep through the night yet- but so good.
The media smear campaign against remote work is WILD. Now they’re trying to blame the “death of office romances” on remote working.
This shit sounds so desperate. Like, “Hey employees, if you keep working from home you’ll never get to bang that cute admin in the Finance department! Come back to the office so you can get your fuck on!”
This is the two year anniversary of the power grid failure in Texas.
Four days with no electricity, heat, or communication, during the coldest temps the state had seen in many years. Maybe it doesn’t sound like much, but it effected me profoundly. It was deadly quiet the entire time, and to this day I start to panic when it’s too quiet.
I left Texas for a lot of reasons, but this was probably the biggest one. The state completely abandoned us.
