Installing drinking valves in some respirators to be handed out at Pride events this weekend.

I have a lapel magnet in my profile picture, and both are on Amazon & Etsy. They're also called needle/cross stitch/embroidery magnets.
Only that one group got sick.
No one else at our event wound up ill or testing positive.
We didn't have transmission.
It's entirely possible to have responsible gatherings that take the wellbeing of attendees into account while still making it possible for old friends to see eachother and for new friendships to be made.
It takes a bit of extra planning and consideration, but know that you can do it.

At one point, we had 25 people tucked under the awning to stay out of the rain. For many, it was the first time seeing certain friends since 2019, so there was hugging and close proximity.
One group wasn't 100% consistent about masking inside the convention and ate inside restaurants together.
Our meetup was at the end of the third day of the convention, so we don't know how often they were exposed, but two days later, they unfortunately started testing positive.

We hear lots about Covid transmission at gatherings that had no precautions, but not enough about events where folks were successfully protected.
I coordinated a meetup for https://Kind.Social during PAX West '23 which was deliberately held outdoors with free 3M VFlex N95s. 
Covid was present, but it didn't spread.
