I need tips for apartment hunting while COVID cautious!
I’m losing my housing and the stress of it has utterly destroyed my baseline. It’s so difficult to find safe housing as a disabled individual.
I’ve finally found a few units to view, but my concern is if I wear my respirator I can’t adequately assess smells and triggers like mold or VOCs.
My MCAS is very severe. I usually know quite quickly if I’m going to react to a space … but I can’t always tell right away when I’m masked up.
No one is living in the units so they will be empty and it’s just me and one other person going to the viewing.
If I can convince that person to wear an N95 and keep their distance… do you think it’s safe if I remove my mask for a few minutes?
I basically just want to smell around things like the hvac, under sinks, anywhere there’s plumbing and the walls in case there’s been new paint.
I know it might be moderately risky but it would be catastrophic to get locked into a year lease somewhere making me sick.
Appreciate any tips if there’s something I’m not thinking of!

Ich trage nahezu überall FFP3, damit traue ich mich dann auch in Konzerte oder Theater. Aber viel seltener als früher und mit weniger Freude, es stresst mich, meist die einzige zu sein. Drinnen essen fällt ganz aus.
Jede*r von uns muss einen möglichst guten Umgang mit sich und dem Alltag finden. Solange wir die Entscheidung der anderen respektieren und sie nicht belügen, wo sie sich auf uns verlassen, soll jede*r das passende Schutzniveau nutzen.

On, c'est Zorro Rennes, mask bloc basé à Rennes.
Le collectif existe depuis fin 2025 et a tenu son premier évènement en janvier 2026. On fait de la distribution de masque, des tests covid et grippe (via un PlusLife), de l'informatio.
On organise tous les mois des goûters en non mixité auto-défense sanitaires. L'objectif est d'offrir un moment de convivialité entre personnes qui, parce qu'elles prennent des précautions face au covid, ont accès à moins d'espace de socialisation.
On a dans les cartons un site web, il arrive au plusse vite en fonction de nos capacités.
Hésitez pas à nous suivre et boostez nos évènements.

ich habe, seit ich FFP2/3 trage, einen Bluterguss auf der Nase. Ich drücke da halt die Maske fest, weil der Sitz da oft korrigiert werden muss. Vielleicht liegt es daran, dass ich für das Treppenhaus und ähnliches kurzes eine FFP2-Maske mit Metallbügel verwende. Für längere Termine benutze ich die Siegmund FFP3.
Derzeit habe ich öfter längere Termine mit Maske, und die entsprechende Stelle tut sogar weh. Nicht schlimm, aber durchgehend, und erst recht, wenn man drankommt.
Irgendwelche Gedanken dazu, Tricks und Tips?
