Shun any and all Trump traitors

Women! Recognize that the only person who has a right to your body or biological functions is you! No other person or state has the right to infringe on your physical sovereignty. To not recognize and defend this sovereignty is to be yoked.
Female humans are due the same rights to #autonomy and #selfdetermination as males.

Mar-a-Lago Face is not about being broadly attractive to men. It is about signaling total subservience to Trump by adopting his personal preferred sexualized aesthetic to the point of radical body modification.

Homan, who doesn't have a Senate-approved position and no formal authority over any agency, is a giant trial balloon, right?

Not being sarcastic.

I feel like that is his job: say something outrageous ("Of course we stop you for being brown!") and then see how it goes over, walk back what fails.

Homan tries to walk his words back: "I want to be clear because my words were taken out of context. Physical description cannot be the sole reason to detain and question somebody. That can't be the sole reason to raise reasonable suspicion. It's a myriad of factors."

Watch: MAGA crowd goes wild as speaker trashes Trump for Epstein 'cover-up'

A pro-MAGA crowd cheered over the weekend as a libertarian comedian trashed President Donald Trump for allegedly covering up for Jeffrey Epstein.During Turning Point USA's Student Action Summit conference on Sunday, founder Charlie Kirk hosted a debate on Israel between comedian Dave Smith and colum...

The short version: an entity based in the UAE sent $2 billion to a guy who was convicted of money laundering via a stable coin created by the Trump family which will earn ~$30 million on the deal as the money launderer is seeking a pardon from Trump.
This is a BFD for a lot of reasons - not least that the House is going to vote this week on a bill that - if it becomes law - would make this kind of criminal activity even easier for the Trump family. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2025-07-11/trump-s-crypto-link-with-binance-raises-conflict-of-interest-questions

This announcement is alarming. It is unclear what "a legitimate business need" means or who will make that determination. Are they planning to review the research plans of individual scholars? https://www.archives.gov/college-park #NationalArchives #authoritarianism
@markstoneman "legitimate business need" means rich people get to decide what's legitimate of course
@markstoneman I doubt science counts business. The only business is extracting money from the people to funnel it up to the parasitariat.

@yora @markstoneman

"Parasitariat" describes the new Government very well.

-------
In response to clarification from @yora, who should be thanked for this new terminology, I want to clarify. "Parasitariat" means the "billionaire scum elite". I used the term for a subset, the current US Government, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the billionaire scum elite. But the parasitariat is bigger than merely the Government.

@oldclumsy_nowmad @markstoneman Though I was thinking about the billionaire scum elite of the last 200 years or so.

@yora @markstoneman

Right on! I meant the Government that is the wholly-owned subsidiary of the billionaire scum elite.

@oldclumsy_nowmad @yora @markstoneman

Oh....This is very, very, very bad....had plans to conduct research later this summer. Am I screwed?

@markstoneman I'm poking around for an explanation, but I'm assuming it's "you must be a stupid fucking white christian to use the Archives."
Why... would they care who accesses the National Archives? Do businesses ever need to go there? Security officers, to guard what?
@markstoneman this is so bad. Archives are the keepers of our societal memory. They are not businesses. They must be open to researchers of any stripe.
@markstoneman 😬 Visitors will have to come up with a lot of plausible β€œlegitimate business needs” that are difficult to vet or refute.
@markstoneman Keeping the public dumb and in the dark is how totalitarian regimes thrive. Hence their war on education and knowledge.
@thegardendude @markstoneman
Given the broader tend of erasure going on re: DEI, I'm not surprised they would attempt to close access to information that might effectively counter the historical narrative they want to construct today

@thegardendude @markstoneman
That said, i can't find anything about this on the site there

Edit: i see other sources linking to the same page with the same note in other places. I just don't see that note on the page they reference. Maybe it was removed?

@RnDanger @thegardendude Weird. Was at the top of the page. Story prolly not over.
@RnDanger @markstoneman Hopefully there was blowback enough to force them to remove that notice (which has happened with other similar decisions).

@markstoneman Just hack in, it won't be difficult.
@markstoneman The Archives in DC is open everyday and open to the public.

@nedhamson1 @markstoneman

And the Archives location at College Park (under discussion here) has a lot of World War-era unit records, and general A/V resources. Plus the entire JFK Assassination files.

@BRMiller @markstoneman I assume if you are an academic or author researcher - no problem with access.

@nedhamson1 @markstoneman

An independent author researcher? An independent researcher working on what they hope is their first book? Or only researchers affiliated with recognized entities? (I'm' gonna be p*ssed if Liberty University, etc. make the cut.)

@BRMiller @markstoneman I think Liberty U. should be decertified and lose not-for-profit status
@markstoneman β€œWho controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.”

@markstoneman It's very disturbing. I suspect the restriction is deliberately worded in such a way that authorities can define "legitimate business need" on the fly.

It's whatever they claim is legitimate at the moment. If you're research is a problem to them, it's not legitimate.

@markstoneman

If anybody's got time, maybe they could develop some kind of legitimate business need before it closes to them, so you can monitor what's happening.

I'm checking my own local National Archives site....

@seachanged @markstoneman

My NARA is the Southeast Regional in Morrow, Georgia.
Which *literally* shares a parking lot with the Georgia State Archives, which years ago was in the news because the GA Secretary of State (Brian Kemp, currently governor) tried to close that state archives because it didn't generate enough income to pay its own operating expenses ... much less a profit.

It's the Republicans.

@BRMiller @markstoneman

Agree completely.

I expect that they're trying to change the past by mutilating the contents of the National Archives there.

@seachanged

We have always been at war with Eastasia.

@markstoneman guess we'll have to watch for smoke

@markstoneman While the current regime said that breaking into a restricted access federal facility with weapons, is a perfectly activity for tourists

"As the National Archives at College Park continues into its third decade of existence, the facility accommodates more than 22,000 annual research requests from nearly 48,000 visitors."

The History of the National Archives at College Park

The National Archives at College Park is a 1.8-million-square-foot facility located just outside of Washington, DC, in College Park, MD. Opened in 1994 near the campus of the University of Maryland, the building serves as additional space for the preservation of historically significant documents and artifacts of the United States. The College Park location, informally known as Archives II, offers the opportunity to continue housing federal records in the Washington Metro area. Born out of a longstanding need for more archival space, the building is intended to last for generations.

National Archives
@markstoneman it's easy! Are you a racist piece of trash? Access granted!
@markstoneman I'm sure they are, yes, and if the research doesn't align with their interests, then, well, you can imagine
@markstoneman
Back up the archive. The whole thing.

@markstoneman

"O'Brien was looking down at him speculatively. More than ever he had the air of a teacher taking pains with a wayward but promising child.

'There is a Party slogan dealing with the control of the past,' he said. 'Repeat it, if you please.'

"Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past," repeated Winston obediently.

"Who controls the present controls the past," said O'Brien, nodding his head with slow approval. 'Is it your opinion, Winston, that the past has real existence?'

Again the feeling of helplessness descended upon Winston. His eyes flitted towards the dial. He not only did not know whether 'yes' or 'no' was the answer that would save him from pain; he did not even know which answer he believed to be the true one.

O'Brien smiled faintly. 'You are no metaphysician, Winston,' he said. 'Until this moment you had never considered what is meant by existence. I will put it more precisely. Does the past exist concretely, in space? Is there somewhere or other a place, a world of solid objects, where the past is still happening?'

'No.'

'Then where does the past exist, if at all?'

'In records. It is written down.'

'In records. And- ?'

'In the mind. In human memories.

'In memory. Very well, then. We, the Party, control all records, and we control all memories. Then we control the past, do we not?'

'But how can you stop people remembering things?' cried Winston again momentarily forgetting the dial. 'It is involuntary. It is outside oneself. How can you control memory? You have not controlled mine!'

O'Brien's manner grew stern again. He laid his hand on the dial."

@markstoneman i checked this yesterday, then pointed it out to the congresshuman whose district that is.

I'd be OK if they just came out and said, "melon husk fucked up our budget and fired everybody," but an email to inquire@nara.gov gets a shit robomail with no information.

If trumpys will be deciding what the undefined "legitimate business need" is, I'm all in favor of breaking the door down and fracturing a few testicles.

@thomasclaburn Ridiculous that they clarify on the siloed dead bird site.

@markstoneman This seems to be a violation of the 14th Amendment's requirement of Equal Protection.

Here is a situation in which businesses and people are given different treatment.

(And the right that people are exercising can include 1st Amendment rights to accumulate information for a petition.)

So this would seem to be a change that requires quite strict scrutiny. Yet the maga-klan has not presented any reasoning, much less one that is both compelling enough to overcome strict scrutiny and also to be the least burdensome method.

@markstoneman

Watch as they swiftly rewrite science and history and obliterate centuries of documents, purged from the world as it burns to keep the coming generations from the means to educate and govern themselves peacefully...
