Imagine having a government so incompetent that it shuts down to the point where a foreign country steps in to pay your army's contractors 🤯

Opposition to Chat Control within Denmark is growing. Fast. If you are a Danish citizen, please consider signing the Chat Control petition: https://www.borgerforslag.dk/se-og-stoet-forslag/?Id=FT-21156

At 50 000 signatures, it is automatically submitted to the parliament and undergoes the standard legislative process, including potential debates, review, and vote.

Meta AI, the honest spokesperson for #WhatsApp 🤣
Use Signal. We promise, no AI clutter, and no surveillance ads, whatever the rest of the industry does. <3

Be Aware ⚠️ There's a viral new trend: using ChatGPT's latest AI models (o3 & o4-mini) to figure out locations from photos.

These new models can zoom, crop, and analyze even blurry pics, combined with web search, to pinpoint locations. Think GeoGuessr!

it does this with EXIF metadata, right? Wrong! This works entirely from photo content. This raises serious privacy concerns. Someone can now screenshot your Story and use AI to try and figure out your location. Doxxing gets even easier.

31 years ago, Geir Ivarsøy and I started working on the Opera browser. A year later we founded Opera Software.

At Opera we wrote all our own code from scratch.

In 2011 I left Opera due to disagreement with investors about the direction Opera was heading.

Two years later, I co-founded Vivaldi to build a browser for you.

So I have been building browsers for 31 years. I think I know what it takes to build a browser.

Our Vivaldi team is for the most part in Norway and Iceland with a few people distributed around Europe and a couple of business people in the US.

Vivaldi is available for your computer and your phone, unless you have a very specific setup. Vivaldi might even be available for your car as well.

We go out of our way to provide you with a browser that matches your needs. I hope you like it.

Right now there are a lot of new eyes on Signal, and not all of them are familiar with secure messaging and its nuances. Which means there’s misinfo flying around that might drive people away from Signal and private communications. 1/
With the world changing around us, many governments and organisations are trying to reduce their dependency on tech giants. Here's an update on how one German federal state is moving 30,000 PCs to LibreOffice (and longer-term, Linux): https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2025/03/13/updates-on-schleswig-holstein-moving-to-libreoffice/ #foss #opensource #freesoftware
Updates on Schleswig-Holstein moving to LibreOffice - The Document Foundation Blog

Nearly a year ago, we posted about the German state of Schleswig-Holstein’s plan to move 30,000 PCs from Microsoft Office/365 to LibreOffice. Now, Stephane Fermigier from EuroStack – which promotes European technological sovereignty and open source – has posted an update, citing an article in the German c’t Magazin. It discusses various reasons for the […]
