In my online undergraduate P5.js course, students are about to begin the module on motion and physics, including a bit of physics simulation using Matter.js. It suddenly occurred to me that I had never seen anybody put together this particular demo before, and I realized it had to be done. Messy source code at https://editor.p5js.org/isohedral/full/vJa5RiZWs.
At the excellent west portal muni metro station, probably the most interesting station in the system (Castro, you say? Forest Hill? Well.. that's, like, your OPINION, man.)

AI agent "contributes" PR to matplotlib.
PR gets rejected.
AI agent *writes and publishes blog to shame the maintainer*.

What a time to be alive.

Last year we had federal agencies get deleted by badly behaved teenagers with no consequences for the illegality of it, but this year nobody will be surprised that the entirety of congress cannot find a way to stop giving money to ICE.
Yet another bay area software engineer who remembers when computers used to be fun.

The documentation for this image processing library by @vruba is one of the most interesting things I've read in weeks:

https://github.com/celoyd/potato/blob/main/docs/personal.md
https://github.com/celoyd/potato/blob/main/README.md
https://github.com/celoyd/potato/blob/main/docs/concepts.md

Philosophical discussion of the nature of seeing and what am image is vs a map, fascinating technical details about how satellite imaging works and why it looks as bad as it often does, a lot of really thoughtful conversation about engineering and aesthetic process, and even an amusing unit of measurement — grams per terrapixel.
