If you're annoyed by the #copilot changing your commit messages and inserting ads: This was inevitable. It has been clear for a long time now that the AI business is unsustainable in its current form. There has to be ROI, or the investors will vote with their money.

In other news: Many commercial models are struggling massively during peak hours, and more limitations and throttling will be introduced.

I would only recommend that anyone using these systems acquires and maintains the actual skills to do their work without them.

The Commission stands with Big Tech in an utterly wild letter that puts pressure on the democratically elected European Parliament to abandon their rights respecting vote on #ChatControl 1.0 just two weeks ago, and instead give Big Tech two-more-years of mass surveillance of our private communications without any safeguards.

🚨No Joke: Conservatives in the EU Parliament (EPP) want the vote on #ChatControl 1.0 to be repeated this Thursday - even though the Parliament already voted NO! 😡

Make sure your MP stays strong. Contact them now!

DID YOU KNOW

before language models could extrude code, there was no way to

* automate things
* make things simpler
* reduce boilerplate
* write unit tests
* learn how things work

fortunately you can now send all your money to an oligarch to do these things poorly

Google has news on what you will need to do for still being able to sideload apps:

* enable developer options
* confirm that you are not tricked
* restart phone and re-authenticate
* wait one day
* confirm with biometrics that you know what you are doing
* decide if you only want unrestricted installs for 1 week or forever
* confirm that you accept the risks
* enjoy the few apps that still have developers motivated to develop for a user-base willing to put up with this

The existing derogation allowing voluntary chatcontrol is likely not be extended beyond it's deadline of April 3rd 2026. While the EU parliament and council each managed to successfully vote on a position, trilogue negotiations between Parliament, Council & Commission have not been successful: https://netzpolitik.org/2026/gescheiterte-verhandlungen-freiwillige-chatkontrolle-wird-vorerst-nicht-verlaengert/

Android provides a standard hardware attestation system with support for alternate operating systems via allowing their verified boot key fingerprints. It's mainly used with Google's root of trust and remote key provisioning service but the API supports alternative roots of trust.

Volla's Unified Attestation is fully built on Android's hardware attestation API. It solely exists to create a centralized authority and service determining what's allowed under their control.

I do not worry about being "left behind" due to the adoption of LLM coding agents. I worry about a massive dip in the quality of software that's already been moldering for years due to the adoption of LLM coding agents. I worry about the FOSS maintainers who are already under-compensated for their work burning out entirely having to deal with the adoption of LLM coding agents. I worry about the environmental impact of the adoption of LLM coding agents. I worry about the laundering of FOSS (and non-FOSS source available!) code into projects that are now legally culpable due to the adoption of LLM coding agents. I worry about the people who can no longer write code without leaning on an LLM coding agent becoming helpless without spending ridiculous (and increasing) amounts of money to companies that may or may not exist in a year due to the adoption of LLM coding agents. I do not worry about being "left behind" when it all comes crashing down and people who are actually skilled have to pick up the pieces and rebuild due to the adoption of LLM coding agents.
