This is about democracy and citizens' rights to privacy, not child abuse.

I understand that BigTech would be excited to have more data fed to AI systems, but your role isn't to accommodate the private interests.

Where were you 35 years ago when it was decided to turn the internet into an advertising platform. It didn't have to be given for people's use without some controls or management. Now you're crying wolf when with a bit of forethought you could have controlled the problems that it faces today. At the time there were a number of people telling you or trying to, not let it into the hands of business. There is no way you will rein it in now.

Voting for Chat Control is not acting on the issue, nor an action to address any grave concerns on child sexual abuse material, that we all share. European's report themselves clarify that it didn't produce any meaningful conviction. Stop wasting our money in pushing this agenda and start investing where it matters: awareness, teaching good digital behaviours and dedicated crime investigations.
