My new-to-me server was finally in a state to be racked! 2U, 12 drives, and enough CPU and memory for it to serve as my main backup, NAS, and media server to replace the 15 year old gaming PC which I've been using for the last 8 years.

Very excited to benchmark and start moving stuff over! I also took advantage of this to move some things around and make room for the 1U router I want to put in.

My Christmas present to my myself finally arrived! A new-to-me server to use as a NAS and Plex Media server! Everything seems to work just about as expected except a couple minor things, which is to be expected with old enterprise hardware.

Glad I decided to swap the CPUs as part of the plan. The original job was quite shoddy.

Made the trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico for the annular eclipse. Totally worth it! It was a great spot to view it from, and this was a great technical shakedown for my setup before the total eclipse next spring!

Only downside: mount started making some nasty noises as I was parking it, probably because I had the counterweights wrong  I'll take it apart once I get home to check the damage, but hopefully I didn't do too much.

Productive night! Sewed up these pouches of color-indicating silica gel for my 3D printing filament storage system. The pellets turn from blue to pink as they absorb water, and you can heat them to reuse it multiple times.

Finally glad to not have tiny beads of not-super-great chemicals (the color comes from cobalt chloride salts) loose in bins in my shop.

Salsa day! Made 4.5 gal (17L) today. Very tiring, but delicious for months to come!
Got some great pictures yesterday of some pollinators doing their thing!

I had a wonderful hike with my partner today. We hiked 11km, and I got some great pictures along the way.

I forgot my cufflinks so I had to improvise. Luckily I had my M3 machine screw kit with washers.
After weeks of design, 3D printing, testing, and soldering, my power box is complete! This is a distribution box for my astronomy kit to provide multiple voltages with current protection for the various things which need DC power. Very happy with the design, and with the clamp to attach it to my scope to help with cable management.
Got my Omnifixo "third hand" today, and it's already a great help with my soldering! The magnetic arms really let you hold things exactly where you need them. #soldering #diy
