Attempted Kingston’s K&P trail today to see if a cycle commute would be viable. It’s not. Might not look too bad but the surface had an impassable sinking slipping quality to it. At least for my bike. Will be trying the bus instead! #CycleLife #commuting #YGK #Ontario #transit

Looking at safer more sustainable options for my wife’s 75km commute from Kingston to Belleville shows how poorly served we are with cost-effective rail transport in #Ontario: 150km per day = 39k km per year. 8 litres gas per 100km = 3,120 litres. $1.87 per litre = $6,592 inc. HST + car payment ($5,400), insurance ($1,500), servicing ($1,000) = $12,992 per year. The train would be $72.32 per day, or $18,803 per annum. And a bus would still be needed to get to her office. #viarail #sustainability
