Germany has agreed to stop ChatControl for now, due to huge amounts of public pressure. Good job! The bad news is that it could come back as soon as December, and the German government has interpreted the feedback as a need to “moderate” the proposal.

🚨 Denmark keeps pushing for Chat Control - but we keep pushing back!

I could use some help, friends. I'd really appreciate sharing.

If you can help out with the occasional pizza, that would really mean a lot to me. Monthly gifts would take care of a lot of my financial stress/anxiety as well.

People who say they have nothing to hide apparently think encryption is only for criminals. Here’s our take on that: https://threema.com/bp/encryption-and-criminality
Privacy for Everyone vs. Mass Surveillance in the Name of Crime Prevention

Have you ever heard the phrase “I have nothing to hide”? It’s often used by people who advocate government surveillance as a means of combating crime. According to this logic, however, anyone who is not a criminal has nothing to hide and therefore does not need an encrypted communication channel. This assumption ...

The EU wants creepy AI to scan EVERY message you send. Even the encrypted ones. 😱

But guess who’s EXEMPT?

✅ Government
✅ Military
❌ YOU

That’s not just hypocrisy – that’s Orwellian surveillance.

We at Tuta have been fighting Chat Control since 2022 – and we’ve been winning. 💪
Now, we need YOU to join the fight.

🚨 Stop Chat Control! 🚨

The EU Council wants all your messages to be read by ominous AI. But government and military accounts will be exempt. Why? For security. 😤

Vote: October 14.
Key meeting: September 12.

📢 Act now! We've got two months to stop Chat Control: https://tuta.com/blog/chat-control-criticism

We're in need of #help from the #networking #infosec #firewall and #Tor communities.

We run many Tor relays, all ports and protocols are open for Tor users. Our edge (a #MikroTik CCR1072-1G-8S+) can handle up to 1 million connections for connection tracking. Our problem is that 1 million connections becomes full after a few hours and is a bottleneck, and thus degrades the performance of the Tor network when connection tracking is on (performance) or off (DDoS, etc).

We also have bottleneck problems when we add firewall rules onto our edge, because the millions of packets per second that we see from Tor means any rule has to be applied to every packet. A solution needs to be able to handle that as well.

We need something that can handle 5+ million connections that can sit in front of our BGP edge, and we need it to be free or cheap 😀 thx for RT'ing and any feedback!

Since the Tor directory authorities are no longer removing such relay groups and I feel bad about sitting on this list without doing anything with it I'm posting it here for your information.

This is a set of over 600 Tor relays that got added since 2020-01-29 on a limited set of hosters (primarily at Microsoft).
They have some similarities in their sign-up pattern and properties.

total guard probability: 3.6%
total middle probability: 10.1%
(no exit relays)
