Well, looks like that one Touhou shmup fangame project Team Kaisendo's working on like it's some sort of dev hell had been sidelined in favor of… this collab versus shump with Rain Theory (FSF, KPoK etc.) where the plot's part adapted Touhou Popularity Poll, part adapted Wizard of Oz, at least what the main meat of this new Direct pertains towards. Time will tell when the full game'll release…

With today's (or yesterday's, depending on timezone) cancellation of Ubusuna, reminder to my fellow shmup fans that we need to stop betting all our mental chips on CAVE and M2.

Please buy and play shmups from other devs as well, there are many other great ones released this decade so far like Devil Blade Reboot, Schildmaid MX, Drainus, and the works of Terarin, Zakichi, et al.

It's easy to fall into the "shmups are dead" trap because many of the people who worked on our longtime/childhood favorites have either died, retired, or still make games but have since changed their ideas about game design. But let that not be the end of the greatest game genre ever (IMO, anyway). Let's support today's devs, or become one if we are able to.
