New, at KrebsOnSecurity.com: Marko Elez, a 25-year-old employee at Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has been granted access to sensitive databases at the U.S. Social Security Administration, the Treasury and Justice departments, and the Department of Homeland Security. So it should fill all Americans with a deep sense of confidence to learn that Mr. Elez over the weekend inadvertently published a private key that allowed anyone to interact directly with more than four dozen large language models (LLMs) developed by Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI.

Our org allows logging in to teams/outlook on personal devices but they must also MFA via Duo. (And most of these employees are also given the option to be issued a company device)

We have a number of contractors that could use personal devices but they are only allowed to use that to login via Citrix which is heavily locked down allowing only having access to Citrix apps for most of the contractors rather than a full VDI.

I have… mixed feelings about it.

They are growing very fast so if I can knock down these barriers it will be a good place for me in the long run - but god damn why did you even hire me if you aren’t going to let me do what you said you wanted during the interviews?

I actually want to do the work they need done (and they NEED it) but if I can’t have even the most basic tools or access I won’t be sticking around very long.

I’m not interested in staying anywhere knowing I’m being set up to fail. 😡
