Are you (planning on) working on a cross-sector collaboration that tackles current social challenges? On Thursday July 3 from 10:00 to 11:00 CEST, we’re hosting an online consultation hour about our Open Call Fresh Perspectives (open until August 26th, 16:00 CEST) 🚀

The open call is for designers, architects, makers or observers who want to develop new perspectives on themes like climate, housing, polarisation, migration or inequality of opportunity - together with at least one partner from another field 🤝

One example of such collaboration is the project Survivalkits by artist Yin Aiwen, working with cultural institutions including Framer Framed, Documenta and AFIELD. This project equips activist communities with comprehensive manuals and an incubation programme to build alternative ecosystems and strengthen organisational capacities through workshops and strategic guidance 💡

The initiative creates new connections between artists, activists, policymakers and scientists, contributing to a more inclusive society by challenging centralised and unequal economic principles.

On May 8th 10:00 AM, we are opening our Creative Industries Kick-Start Grant Scheme for the second time this year 🤩

This scheme is for small-scale projects, experiments, and preliminary research up to €10,000 💸 One example of such a project is Bold Abilities by Aurora Brad 🔍 In its starting phase, this project maps current assistive aids and customisation trends while engaging users and manufacturers to develop ten personalised future scenarios for 2050. These scenarios reimagine assistive aids as tools for empowerment and self-expression rather than merely functional necessities. In the future, Aurore aims to connect with industry leaders, develop concept products based on user feedback, and potentially publish a book to inspire industry-wide dialogue.

Make sure to prepare your application well in advance of the opening, as a maximum of 105 applications will be processed.

Good to know 💡 Since the beginning of this year, this scheme has replaced the Experiment Grant Scheme and the starting grants for our Design, Architecture, Digital Culture, and Internationalisation schemes.

As part of Creative Industries Immersive Impact Coalition (CIIIC), we are very excited to be launching the new Artistic & Design Research for Immersive Experiences (ADRIE) Grant Scheme 🚀

This grant scheme is aimed at new-to-be-formed consortiums of makers, producers, institutions and researchers. The consortiums place artistic and design research at the core of the development and application of immersive experiences.

The grant period for the first round is open from 6 May 2025, 10:00 CEST to 23 May 2025, 17:00 CEST 📅 During this grant period a maximum of 60 applications will be processed, of which five will be selected. In this round, € 50,000 subsidy can be applied for to develop plans for a two-year programme.

Are you a self-taught designer? The deadline for our Open Call Self-taught Designer is coming up (Monday 28 April 2025, 5:00 PM) ⏰

This call is for makers who have either developed professionally through self-directed learning or completed MBO education in a design field. From the applications, we will invite two makers per province to a pitch day, during which you will give a presentation about how you would like to professionalise your practice in the coming year. The makers who get selected will receive a €25,000 development grant and participate in our Talent Development programme.

Are you an emerging designer ready to take your practice to the next level? We are excited to announce our renewed Talent Development Grant Scheme, offering € 25,000 grants which you can invest in developing your practice over one year 🚀

Mind that some things have changed compared to previous years. We for example use a one-phase application process, assess a maximum number of applications and are only open for designers with minimum one year post-graduation experience.
