@davidgerard In Germany, you can look up information about most companies here: https://www.handelsregister.de/rp_web/welcome.xhtml A good reminder to always do this before interacting with an unknown company. Not sure about the situation in other countries, though.
Edit: This may not prevent you from getting scammed by someone who impersonates a real company that doesn't operate its own internet presence, though (which is common for scams targeted at job applicants, to my knowledge).
Oh, today is my 8th anniversary of working on Mastodon. I was 23 when I started, finishing my last year of university, still living at my parent's place. I had no idea what I was getting myself into or that it would consume the next 8 years of my life almost completely.
@Tinido @jochenschwarzer Ja, der Koffeingehalt von Schokolade (besonders der dunklen) wird gerne unterschätzt. Bin persönlich stolz drauf, fast immer ohne Kaffee, Tee, Cola etc. durch den Tag zu kommen, aber wenn ich die ca. 50 Gramm Schokolade pro Tag weglasse, bekomme ich plötzlich heftigen Kaffeedurst 😆

Thurgood Marshall graduated from Lincoln, and Einstein has an honorary degree from there, so they have that in common.
But this brings me to an interesting observation: The racism gatekeepers in STEM often invoke the names of the very people who support inclusion! 🤷🏿♂️
Important: Einstein did good things and bad things. As much as he said nice and did nice things for Black folk and Jewish folk in the US, he didn't treat his wife very well, and he said awful things about Chinese people.
As previously mentioned, here's what Einstein had to say about segregation:
"There is a separation of white people and colored people in the United States. That separation is not a disease of colored people. It is a disease of white people. I do not intend to be quiet about it."
For the last 20 years of his career, Einstein declined almost all public speaking engagements, except those at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
