Computer Nerd, Airplane Nerd, Computer/Airplane Nerd.

I was globally indigent for about a decade, but slowed down my pace in 2017. I’m not quite ready to completely settle down, but the idea of roots is appealing.

My opinions are my own, nothing here is an endorsement.

@Elizafox @ellesaurus yeah, usually when someone’s car ends up in a ditch or they don’t know how they got to Waffle House I think they did a DUI

DC has a curfew for people under 18 - they have to be off the street by 11pm, and, in certain neighborhoods, 8pm.

Now, I'm at the age where I should be yelling at kids to get off my lawn, and I get that groups of teenagers are prone to getting into trouble (and can make grownups uncomfortable even when they don't). But it still rubs me the wrong way.

Kids should be held accountable for their actual conduct, not pre-judged merely for being young.

@MLE_online that’s amazing

I met Robert Mueller several times when he was FBI director. We disagreed strongly about electronic surveillance policy, but there could be no doubt about his devotion to a mission that he took extremely seriously. No wonder Trump hated him; their concepts of public service and duty have no common ground whatsoever.

I was saddened by his decline as the Mueller investigation wound down. May he rest in peace.

@lobsters don’t like that

Josh Toussaint-Strauss discovers that great restaurants are disappearing on Google Maps, despite having lots of reviews and high ratings, so he sets out to get to the bottom of it and finds out that what Google Maps shows us isn't necessarily what we want to see

I eagerly await the similarly harsh judgement of everyone who offered supercilious moralizing about people speaking ill of Charlie Kirk after his death. https://fed.brid.gy/r/https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:2whlowi5jjjqrdrrj4lxh2lx/post/3mhlklmgrgc2u

The problem is not the FBI buying tracking data without a warrant. Police forces don’t need a warrant to ask people what they saw or look at voluntarily disclosed CCTV footage.

The problem is that this data is being collected and aggregated in the first place. Oppression does not get better because you privatise it.
