Programmer geek at OpenLink Software. Opinions my own.

Why is it that "AI" apps' websites seem to lean into this grotty tiny typewriter design? pi.dev and midjourney, I'm looking at you...

Some of us old enough to remember real tty terminals can no longer read without specs and they design it so tiny...

Also: it's been a couple of years since I actively looked at python at goodness me but it feels weird having stronger typing constraint syntax. Kinda reminds me of Haskell back in the 90s/00s.

Spent all afternoon+evening harassing Claude, ChatGPT and ollama to give instructions on how to create an openweb-ui Tool. No joy.
Official docs: awful, unusable, incomplete.
Reverse-engineer existing example? *That* works.

And now I have search results from my own python script being handled through deepseek-r1... it's far from perfect but it's a start.

Another major benefit of Anthropic’s Claude Desktop support for remote MCP servers is the ability to combine powerful data access and visualization in notebooks that can be shared via web links.

I'm a bit glad to have copied all 12TiB of crud off to another machine running xfs before this kind of thing started happening...

For some reason, my work email spams have taken a sudden switch to the theme of recipes this past week.

"Creamy scrambled eggs with ham".
"Tuna and chickpea salad".
"Pumpkin pancakes".
"Steak and kidney pie".
"Crusted salmon".

As distractions go, it's ... not unpleasant, I'll say that for it ;)
