Sharing stories, strategic problem solving, & searching for smiles — Nonprofit professional, nonvisual accessibility pusher, & she/they person. Not all the things — just Some.💙
Currently learning Python code — I’m a marketing and communications professional who is exploring opportunities for better processes and tools in this digital age of mailing lists, social media, and online communities. Plus Python is one of my son’s special interests so knowing it makes our conversations more fun. #Autism
Starting the day off right with #LatinRhythms and joy on the stream for #NFB24 @nationsblind #Fun
I’m headed today to the @nationsblind National Convention in Orlando, FL — working behind the scenes on communications but also connecting directly with thousands of blind people to continue amplifying our stories. #NFB24 💙
We had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Stevie Wonder at the national Federation of the Blind Jernigan Institute today after his being awarded an honorary doctorate from Johns Hopkins University. Coolest part was playing him on our new PowerShowDown table.
Accessibility issues make websites and apps difficult (sometimes impossible) to use. Many sources agree that only 3% of the Internet is fully accessible. Most of the time, apps and websites are inaccessible because developers are unaware of disabled users’ needs—developers do not generally intend malice. Given the vast number of inaccessible apps and web sites, it is vital that everyone work together to report issues, educate companies, and help make many more products and services accessible.
Why this company’s biggest fans turned against it

When software runs your car, home theater, thermostat and more, one botched update can ruin everything.

Happy Global Accessibility Awareness Day! Thanks to all the advocates who continue to raise expectations and to all the allies quietly undoing the artificial barriers put in our way. I am spending the day working on #NFB24 and the future inclusive Museum of the #Blind People's Movement #GAAD
No matter how long you've worked in #accessibility, there's always an opportunity for a new WTF: "Skip to main content (opens in a new tab)".

If people with disabilities aren't invited to the conversation on care, it's clear we're being discussed, not included.

It shows that we are just an item on the agenda.

Sure, go ahead and decide about us without us—we love surprises. (Yes, that's sarcasm.)

An unfortunate truth regarding web #accessibility:
“There are a number of standards for various things out there. Its not like it's hidden.
It's just ignored.”
