This is insane! A few researchers from UCSD and UMCP scanned bunch of satellite links, found much of the traffic is not encrypted, and went on to decode them. It's amazing what came out.

- T-Mobile backhaul: Users' SMS, voice call contents and internet traffic content in plain text.
- AT&T Mexico cellular backhaul: Raw user internet traffic
- TelMex VOIP on satellite backhaul: Plaintext voice calls
- U.S. military: SIP traffic exposing ship names
- Mexico government and military: Unencrypted intra-government traffic
- Walmart Mexico: Unencrypted corporate emails, plaintext credentials to inventory management systems, inventory records transferred and updated using FTP

While it is important to work on futuristic threats such as Quantum cryptanalysis, backdoors in standardized cryptographic protocols, etc. - the unfortunate reality is that the vast majority of real-world attacks happen because basic protection is not enabled. Lets not take our eyes off the basics.

While Denmark is experiencing continued drone attacks against airports, Danish medium EB flies a helicopter south between the islands of Lolland and Langeland, and discovers the Russian Navy vessel Aleksandr Shabalin 110 covertly sailing near the Danish seas with its AIS transponder turned off.

This ship can carry 340 soldiers, 10 main battle tanks, and a crew of 98 sailors, and the speculation now is that the vessel could have had a coordinating role in the attacks.

Dadurch steigt der Anteil Erneuerbarer Energien an diesem Tag zusammen mit Photovoltaik, Biogas und Wasserkraft auf 𝟴𝟲%. Wir alle können diese Zeit mit viel grünen Strom nutzen, um unsere Haushaltsgeräte klimafreundlicher zu betreiben. 🙌 Denn legen wir stattdessen einen Verbrauch z.B. in eine Dunkelflaute, liefern uns hauptsächlich konventionelle Kraftwerke den benötigten Strom. 🔥

🌬️ An Tagen mit viel Wind können Windräder aber oft nicht ihre volle Leistung entfalten, denn sie erzeugen dann mehr Strom, als das Stromnetz transportieren kann. So mussten laut Bundesnetzagentur 2022 etwa 7.300 Gigawattstunden an potenzieller Windenergie abgeregelt werden. ❌ Das entspricht dem jährlichen Strombedarf von ca. 2,4 Millionen Einfamilienhäusern! 🏡

Umso wichtiger ist es, Strom dort und dann zu verbrauchen, wo und wann er erzeugt wird, Windkraftanlagen möglichst gut verteilt aufzustellen und Netze intelligent zu machen, damit vorhandene Übertragungsleitungen bestmöglich ausgelastet werden können. ⚡

Some dude appears to have reverse engineered the formula Trump is using to determine each country’s tariffs:

The trade deficit of a given country is just imports minus exports. Example:

* US Imports from Vietnam: $136.6 bn
* US exports to Vietnam: $13.1 bn
* US trade deficit w/Vietnam: $136.6 - $13.1 = $123.5 bn
* $123.5 / $136.6 = 90% tariffs

This is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen, except for the fact that Taiwan's existence is acknowledged as a real country.
