Dad, Web Engineer, and Cyclist, I typically post about Life, Science Fiction, Science Fact, Web Technology, Politics, and Beer. Not necessarily in that order.

Migrating over to @chris today. So this will be the last post from this specific instance!
@Renee what language(s) does the camp focus on?
I keep seeing that “first they came for the journalists” sign, and it pisses me off so much, because when they came for muslims, immigrants, and trans people, mainstream journalists normalized it and reported it as “both sides”. Somehow it didn’t count for them until it was happening to them personally, which is *exactly* what the fucking poem was warning against in the first place.

Starting today, you can order another set of free #COVID19 tests through the USPS.

This program should never have been paused, but Congress has refused to fund it any further. At least it's back for now...

For better or worse, I have finally been motivated to work on some web side projects. It has granted me the inability of heading to bed at a reasonable hour because I want to finish whatever item I’m currently working on, which never seems satisfactory enough to stop.
Every time I watch amateur (open-mic) comedy I'm reminded that a) some people are just naturally funny, and b) my ability to be funny is absolutely directly tied to back-and-forth interactions.

From time to time there’s debates on whether fundamentals (accessibility, security, privacy, etc) should be staffed by a central team or if “it’s everyone’s responsibility”.

IMHO you need both. A team of dedicated experts with organizational influence/backing, who can set best practices and provide resources; and a cultural expectation that best practices will be learned and incorporated into core product development processes.

@rafa and yes, as others have noted: basically an entire income is sunk into daycare/after-school programs.

@rafa Our kids (4 & 1) both go to school/day care 5 days a week, I work from 6:30am-5pm with sporadic step-aways to do chores/care for the kids (like bring them to school).

Unfortunately with both parents working full time, it's very hard to do anything less than 5 days of daycare, imo. Wife was in a crunch last month and even with daycare she was working every night once the kids were asleep.

@NatureBit I would totally watch it if I didn't have kids... and I'm the one that picks it sometimes, lol
