Dad, Web Engineer, and Cyclist, I typically post about Life, Science Fiction, Science Fact, Web Technology, Politics, and Beer. Not necessarily in that order.

Migrating over to @chris today. So this will be the last post from this specific instance!
I keep seeing that “first they came for the journalists” sign, and it pisses me off so much, because when they came for muslims, immigrants, and trans people, mainstream journalists normalized it and reported it as “both sides”. Somehow it didn’t count for them until it was happening to them personally, which is *exactly* what the fucking poem was warning against in the first place.

Starting today, you can order another set of free #COVID19 tests through the USPS.

This program should never have been paused, but Congress has refused to fund it any further. At least it's back for now...

For better or worse, I have finally been motivated to work on some web side projects. It has granted me the inability of heading to bed at a reasonable hour because I want to finish whatever item I’m currently working on, which never seems satisfactory enough to stop.
Every time I watch amateur (open-mic) comedy I'm reminded that a) some people are just naturally funny, and b) my ability to be funny is absolutely directly tied to back-and-forth interactions.

From time to time there’s debates on whether fundamentals (accessibility, security, privacy, etc) should be staffed by a central team or if “it’s everyone’s responsibility”.

IMHO you need both. A team of dedicated experts with organizational influence/backing, who can set best practices and provide resources; and a cultural expectation that best practices will be learned and incorporated into core product development processes.

#bluey has influenced so much of my language around the kids. We are having a “chuck-out” today of toys. Donating unused/lesser-used toys in preparation for Christmas.

Portugal's infrastructure minister gets it:

“If we simply replace all combustion cars with electric cars, we will end up with the same kind of congestion, the same huge amount of lost time in traffic, the same unsustainable levels of road accidents, and the same struggle for public space."

“The car overwhelmed city life and it is something that must change.”

Electric vehicle shift alone will not solve urban transport woes, says Portuguese minister

A shift to collective transport is needed to reverse the dominance of cars in cities and reach our decarbonisa

Just realised that I can use :has() to lock page scrolling under modals and menus without toggling classes with JS. Handy!
The timing of these posts is very unnerving @Myerman @hopedoty 😬🫣
