At last count, the campaign raised $680 000. That sounds like a lot of money, but the Harris campaign in total raised a number greater than $1 000 000 000. The true figure is not yet known.

To put that into perspective, the M4H losers raised only 0.068% of her total amount. That’s not even a rounding error. That’s effectively chump change.

It is absolutely infuriating and hilarious in equal measure that these people threw away this much money — and the sole goal of their campaign was to ensure Harris created a presence on Mastodon. It was to get her attention. Well, guess what? Senpai didn’t even notice them.

Direct donations mean nothing to someone whose campaign was backed by actual billionaires. This isn’t your local mayor or something, where money like that might make a difference.

The infuriating part is that if that money was diverted to… Hell, even charity, it would have been a much more fruitful use of it. 680k to HIV relief, 680k to housing charities, 680k to a children’s hospital, 680k could answer every mutual aid post for the rest of the decade.

That money went straight into a pit. None of it helped Harris at all. None of it helped any Democrat. None of it helped any of the suckers who donated. Maybe it eased their conscience, maybe it made them feel like they were “fighting fascism” or sticking it to the orange man.

I don’t know. I don’t care. All I know is that it is absolute proof that liberals on (and off) Mastodon care more about the performance of helping, rather than the act of helping.

But you know what, I think it is funny, extremely funny, that they wasted so much money and didn’t even get a thank you.
