I liked this sign as it had this “please do not climb on top
Or fuck around and find out” attitude
(it says something like
“Please do not climb
Bear the consequences yourself”)
One of the main BLAG 08 (https://bl.ag/08) features examines the changes in Hong Kong’s renowned signscape through the eyes of Henry Steiner, nearly 60 years after his 1966 essay on the subject.
The piece was written by Billy Potts (https://www.handsomeco.com) and his contributor copies arrived in Hong Kong this week. Here's Henry checking it out for the first time, and Billy wrote to me to say:
"Henry says, 'That's pretty good. Nice.' That's about the highest praise you could get from Henry and you* got it."
*Should be 'we', but I'm honoured either way!
[4/365] Random drive & walk F-tier sign. As a retired government employee, I LITERALLY laughed out loud; another example of government waste/inefficiency.
Being friendly is obviously good, but:
1. Sign placed at residential subdivision's lowest traffic area, 800m (1/2 mile) from a dead end, not at entrance where everyone sees it.
2. Do residents drive unfriendly by default? Otherwise, what's the point? (rhetorical questions)
