We had it real good back in the day, and didn't even know it...
Bots just officially outnumbered humans on the internet for the first time ever. Cloudflare’s latest report shows AI and agentic traffic has grown so fast its now the majority of online traffic. We crossed a line and most people didn’t even notice 😳 https://radar.cloudflare.com/traffic#bot-vs-human
Dead internet theory is now becoming a reality
Pasting a huge AI generated explanation to a problem in an issue or pull-request is nothing but RUDE. Don't do it. You look stupid and the receivers of that feel insulted.
We are humans. We communicate like humans. Fine, use the tools you like, but don't insult us.
Just noticed this instance is missing my commemorative toot!
I managed to fully restore an Italian Macintosh Classic! (And convert it from 240 to 127v)
The 30yr+ original SCSI disk is still alive and kicking too! Just need to service the floppy drive and figure out how to stabilise the display.
The poor thing was in bad shape. Lots of caps leaked and corroded the analog board and even the chassis! A few others on the motherboard, but nothing as bad as the AB. It was soooooo dirty when it arrived too. It was a surprise to boot it and see a "Benvenuto in Macintosh."
Beautiful machine. Happy to have a little piece of history here. Oh! The old SCSI drive was imaged and safely stored, thanks to BlueSCSI. <3

Today someone (who is not on Mastodon) released a collection of more than 570 distinct operating systems, pre-installed with VM configurations for the 250+ different platforms, going back all the way to 1948.
Now, I have to admit I'm posting this without trying it myself, as I'm running low on disk space on this machine.
Because the full download is 121GB (174GB unzipped!). There is also a lighter version at 14GB that will download stuff on demand.

With OSS for example, I feel that a lot of the wind has been taken out of my sails. I have plenty of projects where I know I could either 1) grind out a solution myself without LLMs, or 2) apply LLMs to fix the bug backlog, but neither feels particularly appealing.
I still can't quite put my finger on it, but I think the issue with #2 is that the sense of accomplishment is no longer there – you crafted the perfect prompt, but that's unsatisfying. The problem with #1 is that it feels pointless.
