Just laid off along with whole team. I'm in the middle of moving. Movers coming on Saturday. I'm not done packing. Good: time to finish packing. Goodish: cheaper rent at new locale. Bad: older guy computer programmer, but not even in COBOL [C, Perl, Python, PL-SQL, RedHat and Debian Linux. Created a custom RPM just Friday.]

Looking. CT / NYC / remote.

Hey folks. I just want to remind each and every one of you of some facts.

1. We each deserve to be treated with love and care.
2. We have a duty to treat others with love and care.
3. Rest is a right, not a reward.
4. Our identity transcends our job title (or lack there of).
5. Our value is independent from our productivity.

#OllasByOsa are back in stock. I have a batch that are ready to ship. When those sell out, you may still purchase made-to-order ollas that take 4-6 to complete. Happy #gardening!

Out of Sight, Out of Mind is an annual exhibition in Edinburgh by artists with mental health issues. Always interesting, and it has occasionally included my work.

Anyway, they’ve lost all their funding and are crowdfunding this year’s exhibition. Please share this, and consider donating.

Do you have a Substack newsletter that you wish was NOT a Substack newsletter (for whatever reason)? I’ve just spent about six weeks learning how to overcome all the obstacles they put in the way of leaving and would love to help. Let’s talk.
This went over well.

Anyone else remember that thing where 2020 taught us that a bufferless, deeply interconnected world of just-in-time production was incredibly fragile, and an otherwise completely manageable temporary disruption would cascade quickly into economic catastrophe, but instead of learning any lessons or building resilient, humane infrastructure we told everyone that the crisis was past and normal was back and go sacrifice your lives and health to grease the machine?

I do.

Drone strikes halt a third of the world's helium supply, threatening chip production

At the center of the issue is the precision gas vital to chip manufacturing and cryogenics. Helium cools silicon wafers during fabrication, maintaining the extremely low temperatures...

Very cool library news: both my poetry books Different With Him and Boy Apparition are now in the Stanford University Libraries.

It means a lot to know these poems about transmasculine adolescence, intellectual romance, and reinventing masculinity are available there for students and researchers.

Libraries really are the best.

@zzt there's a certain mindset that wants to always classify anger as noise, muddying signal and making it harder to "see clearly", and if you do otherwise then you're intellectually/epistemically compromised and "letting anger drive you". but really anger is information, it's social and emotional feedback. and if enough people are angry about something that's a sign that something important is happening and deserves a non-dismissive response.
