Good news: The fight isn't lost yet, and it's a sign the EP is still standing strong against mass-scanning
Bad news: now this will be followed up by the Irish presidency, who, if I remember correctly, are very much in favor of mass scans.

@aral The parliament exists to give the people the illusion of having power in the lawmaking process. The EU is not a democracy, merely disguised as one. I would love to be proven wrong of course. But unless major change I doubt I am.
I don't want to see the EU collapse or whatever. it has done alot of good too. But the current EU leadership feels like a poor joke.
@overit Possibly. Though I've heard rumors that the UK in particular has MPs who don't know what a VPN is. All they know is that "It's a thing that bypasses age verification"
Stupidity is just as terrifying just in other ways.
@juno0 Yeah. They'll get arrested. their stuff searched. then released because hey guess what false positive. Tax payer money and police resources wasted.
AI can sometimes just halucinate apparently... So I can't wait until their mandatory scheme falls apart.
