Interested in the world, so I explore it as often as I am able. More specifically, History faculty member at UC Davis. I should be living in the Cairngorms.

Can't even trick myself into going to Facebook.
Saw a couple of wild turkeys wandering around today and they honestly seemed to have no idea.
Today is a good day to remind you that whitewashing American history is how white supremacy thrives.

welp, I have deleted the tweet archives of http://twitter.com/RealTime1987A. That was a serious astro outreach project. It consistently reached thousands of people. It was on my CV and I was f***ing proud of it. It was fun. And it's gone.

Because Elon Musk couldn't abide a global outreach platform that wasn't also a chaos playground for his white supremacist edgelord friends.

And what like-minded bros at Bank of America and Morgan Stanley helped him? With whose pension fund's money?

I am pissed.

I sat by an election denier on the airplane and he started poking me in the arm to be emphatic about his views on people stealing ballots secretly and the airplane was full and I couldn’t move anywhere so I started explaining the yellow fever in very great detail, all the way down to telling him about the bloody vomit that looks like coffee grounds and it worked. He stopped talking to me. The moral of this story is you can’t out-weird an academic; our toolset is too vast. #vastearlyamerica
Without the albatros of #England and its succession struggle-driven #Brexit, #Scotland would, like #Ireland, be top of the class. Instead, Scotland is dragged to the bottom of the #OECD GDP growth forecast tables, because a bunch of old #Tory guys can’t sort out their greed out.

"Mainstream journalists, who are endlessly harangued for their alleged liberal bias, jump at opportunities to strut their evenhandedness, even when it backfires on them." https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/11/22/midterms-mainstream-media-stand-by-red-wave/

That's from the Washington Post's media columnist, Erik Wemple:

What Wemple describes is a major factor. I've been writing about it for years. It helps explain yesterday's staggering "they both lie" tweet from Ashley Parker comparing Biden's mendacity to Trump's.
