A list of recent hostile moves by #Google's #Chrome team; handy for sharing with your entourage, to explain why they should stop using #Chromium / #GoogleChrome and use #Firefox or #Epiphany as their main #web #browser :

* The "Manifest v3" sabotage of content blocking extensions: https://www.theverge.com/2022/6/10/23131029/mozilla-ad-blocking-firefox-google-chrome-privacy-manifest-v3-web-request

Firefox and Chrome are squaring off over ad-blocker extensions

Mozilla, the makers of the Firefox browser, has said that ad blocking at the network level will be supported in its implementation of the Manifest V3 standard, drawing a contrast with Google Chrome.

I’m a cranky old-web person but I’m just genuinely fucking mystified that the reaction to either Jack’s or Zuck’s new corporate social media landgrab isn’t a loud unanimous laughing “no, get fucked”. Twitter and Facebook were a warning, not an instruction manual.

Last week Objective Development, the developer of Little Snitch, responded (more or less) to my earlier blog posts. I discuss their response.

The macOS 14 Sonoma colour scheme / default wallpaper is probably the first one that I actually actively hate looking at.

These colours just… do /not/ look good together to my eyes.

It actually reminds me of Splatoon 3's cursed colour scheme, which I also dislike.

On April 30, 2018, I released version 1.0 of my web browser extension StopTheMadness. That was 5 years ago today!

I can't believe how long it's lasted and how far it's come. I didn't expect or imagine that 5 years ago. Creating StopTheMadness is just something I did in the moment. Thank you very much to everyone who has helped me along the way.

Happy anniversary! By the way, StopTheMadness on sale right now.
