Hi Epicureans, our cloud server provider experienced a short outage this morning, resulting in this instance being offline for about an hour.

Normal service now resumed.

Hi Epicureans, we had a disk space issue that resulted in Epicure Social being offline for the last 24 hours or so, Apologies for this, of course I was travelling and took my eye off the ball!

It's now resolved, we're back as normal.

I will be taking steps to make sure that disk space issues like this do not reoccur.

Continuing the wine guides at The Morning Claret. Especially proud and pumped about this one.

This piece about how a seemingly tiny mistranslation might have spawned a monster (natural wine!) has invited some serious discussion in the comments . . .

Did a mistranslation spawn an entire subculture?

Rather huge news, that has been quietly reported in a few organs over the last few weeks: Consorzio Collio has voted to create an orange wine classification as part of DOC Collio.

I took a detailed look and asked main man Saša Radikon for his input.

I say this a bunch but one of the sheer joys of Mastodon is simply boosting stuff you like. I mean it's so silly but here, you get to be the algorithm. If you don't boost, it don't get boosted. So... whatever your reasons, boost, boost, boost!

Drop that goddam shyness that the other sites somehow programmed into you, as if your own stuff will get punished if you help others' along.

Also boost is nice word.

Nice to see a few more people posting on epicure.social -I guess the eXodus prompted that....

If you enjoy Epicure.Social, please consider making a small donation to our hosting costs. So far five kind people donated, but it would be nice if a few more of the regulars reached into their pockets.

Here is the link, which works with any form of credit or debit card and many other magical payment methods besides (it's Stripe FYI)

Thank you to the four people who already donated to epicure.social's hosting costs! Two of whom are not even on this instance (never expected that!)

$90 is enough to keep the good ship Epicure afloat for approximately four months!

I hope a few more of the regulars here might feel like putting something in the pot.

Hey everyone, if you'd like to make a small donation towards epicure.social 's hosting and admin costs, I would appreciate it.

Here is a payment link to make a one-time donation. You can choose the amount. I set the minimum at $5, I hope that is OK.

If 10 people all donated $25, that covers one year's hosting and storage costs.

Theoretically I could make alternative links available in other currencies if that is required. Just let me know!
