The dumbest thing about "using AI is mandatory" rules for businesses is that it will lead to people just automating triggering meaningless "AI" processes to meet their quota which add nothing but cost a lot.

The Best Programmer Dan Knows

I was pairing with my friend Vernon at work last week, on a tool I've been developing. He was smiling broadly as I talked him through what...

no-dice: Generate random numbers with strictly a pencil and paper by drawing simple curves and counting the number of intersections in the curve.

Obviously, it's not secure, but it's a creative way to get a quick unbiased random number without too much trouble.

Of course you could manipulate it, so it requires you to be honest about not paying attention to your curve or intersections, and just drawing freely.

Just don't get too crowded or it can be difficult to count.

Once again: how am I only just now finding out about this? 😲

An Internet Canvas

Wouldn't you want a digital medium with the expressive ease of paper?

If you finally found the solution to your coding problem in a deep comment or something after having dozens of tabs open, you should write about it in your own blog.

Really. Describe the problem in your own words and the solution for it, even if the solution seems really obvious now. Doesn’t matter. Give credit and whatever, but use your own words because you will be surprised at how many people will land on it.

Write the blog post you wish you had found.

What a deeply fascinating conversation about software and capturing and distributing value…

Thanks @bcantrill, @ahl, @ag_dubs, and @adamhjk for making my brain go brrr. 😋
