There are many legitimate reasons to track Elon Musk's flight coordinates, for example to offer him ads more relevant to his interests

If you live in the #Chicago area and want a sweet floofy husky friend, look no further. Please adopt him because if you don't I will be forced to and then S.O. will be very, incredibly upset with me. #DogsOfMastodon

Me three weeks ago: man, it's great so many tech folks are here, but it's gonna be a nightmare to get (non-tech) journos over here too, and they drive so much of the discussion value on Twitter

Today: lmao, well

Heh, Elon Musk is running a public poll on how long to ban journalists for. https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1603600001057185792

If you're trying to find journalists on Mastodon, I've created a verified database of several hundred here: http://presscheck.org. Since the backlog has become enormous, the unverified waiting list is now public also: http://presscheck.org/pending

Here are the journalists banned today from Twitter for reporting on Musk. Some have Mastodon accounts, as noted. Feel free to add new accounts below.

I would like to see their news orgs respond with backbone, & swiftly, to support a democratic free press by establishing servers/instances on Mastodon & exiting Twitter until Musk publishes standards that ensure journalists do not have to submit to his use of arbitrary power in order to publish there

Listening to the Twitter Space where Musk buddy Jason Calacanis is defending the removal of journalist accounts (to many of the journalists who were removed, who somehow can still join the space).

And he's RAGING about personal danger, and insisting this is something totally new (it's not).

Um. Also this was the same debate about Jan 6 / Trump decision. That Musk & friends mocked & insisted was unfair.
